What is a sestertius coin?
A sestertius coin is an ancient Roman currency unit, originally made of silver and later bronze. It was worth a quarter of a denarius and equivalent to 2½ asses. The coin was issued during the Roman Empire and some examples date back to 109 A.D. Sestertius coins were not only used as currency but also served as a historical artifact reflecting the culture and economy of ancient Rome.
